February 1, 2016

Some fantastic Young Adult titles are hitting the shelves this month – below is a collection of some of the most notable! From contemporary to fantasy, horror to romance… there’s sure to be something you love! Click each book to find out more, and don’t forget to have a look at my picks at the end of the post!

by Meg Cabot

In REMEMBRANCE, the seventh installment of the Mediator series, all Susannah Simon wants is to make a good impression at her first job since graduating from college (and becoming engaged to Dr. Jesse de Silva).

But when she stumbles across an ancient murder, old ghosts—and ex-boyfriends—aren’t all that come back to haunt her.

REMEMBRANCE will be the first ever adult installment of the Mediator, published by William Morrow, the adult division of HarperCollins, the company that brought you the YA books in the series.

DYING – DYINGGGG. I have loved The Mediator series for years. I am beyond thrilled that Meg Cabot is doing an ADULT installment of the series, a kind of ‘where are they now’ continuation of the YA series adored by so many. I recently re-read the original YA series and delved for the first time into the novella, Proposal, so yes – I AM READY.

‘Reign of Shadows’
by Sophie Jordan

Seventeen years ago, an eclipse cloaked the kingdom of Relhok in perpetual darkness. In the chaos, an evil chancellor murdered the king and queen and seized their throne. Luna, Relhok’s lost princess, has been hiding in a tower ever since. Luna’s survival depends on the world believing she is dead.

But that doesn’t stop Luna from wanting more. When she meets Fowler, a mysterious archer braving the woods outside her tower, Luna is drawn to him despite the risk. When the tower is attacked, Luna and Fowler escape together. But this world of darkness is more treacherous than Luna ever realized.

With every threat stacked against them, Luna and Fowler find solace in each other. But with secrets still unspoken between them, falling in love might be their most dangerous journey yet.

I kept getting rejected for this one on Edelweiss unfortunately, BUT I’ll be able to finally read it this month. I didn’t like Firelight by Sophie Jordan, but other than that, that’s the only book by her that I’ve read. I have high hopes for Reign of Shadows – fingers crossed!

‘The Forbidden Wish’
by Jessica Khoury

She is the most powerful Jinni of all. He is a boy from the streets. Their love will shake the world…

When Aladdin discovers Zahra’s jinni lamp, Zahra is thrust back into a world she hasn’t seen in hundreds of years — a world where magic is forbidden and Zahra’s very existence is illegal. She must disguise herself to stay alive, using ancient shape-shifting magic, until her new master has selected his three wishes.

But when the King of the Jinn offers Zahra a chance to be free of her lamp forever, she seizes the opportunity—only to discover she is falling in love with Aladdin. When saving herself means betraying him, Zahra must decide once and for all: is winning her freedom worth losing her heart?

As time unravels and her enemies close in, Zahra finds herself suspended between danger and desire in this dazzling retelling of Aladdin from acclaimed author Jessica Khoury.

Aladdin re-telling? A female genie? GAH. Count me in. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and not to mention it has a stunning byline by Sarah J. Maas.

What do you think of this month’s new releases?
Is there anything here you’ve already read? What did you think?

Yellow sounds amazing – a ghost, a makeover plan and a murder mystery?! I am so in! And the cover is gorgeous. Too bad it’s an Australian title – something tells me it will be as difficult to get ahold of as Summer Skin (which I finally managed to order this morning).
