Launching in… May, 2016

May 1, 2016

Some fantastic Young Adult titles are hitting the shelves this month – below is a collection of some of the most notable! From contemporary to fantasy, horror to romance… there’s sure to be something you love! Click each book to find out more, and don’t forget to have a look at my picks at the end of the post!

‘A Court of Mist & Fury’
by Sarah J Maas

Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court–but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms–and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future–and the future of a world cleaved in two.

Without a doubt, this is my most anticipated release of the month – perhaps even the year! I absolutely LOVED A Court of Thorns and Roses (it was my favourite read of 2015!) and I’m hoping and praying that this one will live up to its predecessor.

‘The Crown’s Game’
by Evelyn Skye

Vika Andreyeva can summon the snow and turn ash into gold. Nikolai Karimov can see through walls and conjure bridges out of thin air. They are enchanters—the only two in Russia—and with the Ottoman Empire and the Kazakhs threatening, the Tsar needs a powerful enchanter by his side.

And so he initiates the Crown’s Game, an ancient duel of magical skill—the greatest test an enchanter will ever know. The victor becomes the Imperial Enchanter and the Tsar’s most respected adviser. The defeated is sentenced to death.

Raised on tiny Ovchinin Island her whole life, Vika is eager for the chance to show off her talent in the grand capital of Saint Petersburg. But can she kill another enchanter—even when his magic calls to her like nothing else ever has?

For Nikolai, an orphan, the Crown’s Game is the chance of a lifetime. But his deadly opponent is a force to be reckoned with—beautiful, whip smart, imaginative—and he can’t stop thinking about her.

And when Pasha, Nikolai’s best friend and heir to the throne, also starts to fall for the mysterious enchantress, Nikolai must defeat the girl they both love… or be killed himself.

As long-buried secrets emerge, threatening the future of the empire, it becomes dangerously clear… the Crown’s Game is not one to lose.

I’ve done a WOW post on this one, and I’m still eagerly anticipating its release. I love anything mildly Imperial Russian, and with that gorgeous cover, I seem to be getting everything I want in a book! I just hope the story inside lives up to my expectations!

‘The Last Star’
by Rick Yancey

We’re here, then we’re gone, and that was true before they came. That’s always been true. The Others didn’t invent death; they just perfected it. Gave death a face to put back in our face, because they knew that was the only way to crush us. It won’t end on any continent or ocean, no mountain or plain, jungle or desert. It will end where it began, where it had been from the beginning, on the battlefield of the last beating human heart.

Master storyteller Rick Yancey invokes triumph, loss, and unrelenting action as the fate of the planet is decided in the conclusion to this epic series.

I’m yet to read this series *hangs head in shame* but with the release of the finale, what better time is there? I actually enjoyed the movie (despite its cheesiness) so this one should be a great ride!

What do you think of this month’s new releases?
Is there anything here you’ve already read? What did you think?

Thank you, Cait! <3 I love it, too! So happy to be able to show it off finally!

Eeeep! ECSTATIC to hear the Crown's Game is amazing. I've been so disappointed lately with some of my anticipated reads, so fingers crossed I'll love it just as much!

May is going to be a great month, I think! I might read my first Morgan Matson, too!

I absolutely ADORE the new look Britt. My goodness, it’s stunning!

I can’t wait for ACOMAF either, mainly because of Rhys. I know, so many readers loved Tamlin but I love characters who play the sexy villain so well and. Gosh I need a copy like yesterday. The 5th Wave is an incredible series, although not everyone has thought so sadly. I love dystopians, so I might be a little biased. So many pretty covers this month too, I love all the lettering and hand painted effects, just beautiful! <3

Aww, thank you, Kelly! <3 I still have to tweak a few things but you get the idea of how it's going to look! :D

EEEP. Yes, I totally agree. I am on team Tamlin, though <3 I'm so glad to hear you liked the 5th Wave series... I have heard mixed things, but hopefully since I thought the movie was alright, I'll like the series!

And yep, the covers are GORGEOUS this month, aren't they?
