Monthly Shelf Recap – May, 2016

June 5, 2016

monthly-may2016-05-reviews

I think I did okay this month on my TBR pile… my favourite read was A Court of Mist & Fury by Sarah J. Maas. It was different from what I was expecting, but still spectacularly written and a whole lot of fun to read. I also finally, FINALLY read the complete Healer series by Maria V. Snyder. I’d previously only read the first one. It was also a fun read. Biggest disappointment this month was The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi.

I’m setting my goals low this month, as I have my final university assignment due and a big month ahead of me at work. I plan to read the leftovers from last months TBR, which is The Fifth Wave series by Rick Yancey. I also got approved for And I Darken by Kiersten White on Netgalley.

New Additions

2016-05-new

My book-buying ban has been working a treat. The only new book I got this month was A Court of Mist and Fury, which I received from Bloomsbury, Australia – so thank you so much!

What’s on your TBR pile for this month?
Did you read any of the books I read last month? What did you think?

Maas is actually on my TBR pile too – I haven’t read any of her books yet, so I’m glad to hear she was the highlight of this month for you! I’ve managed to complete Laini Taylor’s series, although I still have a companion novella to get through, so maybe complete is the wrong term? I quite enjoyed it. Now I’m reading a little non-fiction to cleanse the palate before starting more YA! (I’d like to finish Rick Yancey’s trilogy too!)

Oh, you should definitley read a Sarah J. Maas book right away!! I prefer her COURT series to THRONE, but it changes from reader to reader! :D

Eeep, I really want to read Laini Taylor’s series – everyone raves about it and it’s on my shelf waiting to go. One day I’ll get there. I love cleansing the palate, too! Though I read non-fiction very rarely. I usually do so by picking up a contemporary before swinging back to my usual fantasy/etc. reads :)

Sorry to hear that The Start Touched Queen was a disappointment, my year in YA has been a lot like that so far. Hopefully you have a great reading month in June!

I have heard so many great things about And I Darken and A Court of Mist & Fury, so I can’t wait to see what you think of them! And I really liked the 5th Wave trilogy, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous recap & haul! <3

I LOVED A Court of Mist and Fury, even though I shouldn’t have by the way things turned out :P Haha, but I’m about to start reading AND I DARKEN right now – so I’m a teensy bit excited, because I’ve heard great things, too! :) Thank you! And thank you for stopping by!
