The tenuous peace that exists between the living and the undead in the town of Morganville is once again threatened, forcing Claire Danvers to make a life-or-death decision.

In Morganville, violent black clouds promise a storm of devastating proportions. As student Claire Danvers and her friends prepare to defend Morganville against the elements – both natural and unnatural – the unexpected happens: Morganville’s vampires begin to vanish one by one. Discovering why leads Claire to one last choice: Swear allegiance to Bishop – or die…

Wow! This has to be my favourite of the series so far. Packed full of action and non-stop drama, Lord of Misrule will have you fighting to discover Morganville’s secrets!

With the fantastic ending in Feast of Fools, I was certain I was going to love Lord of Misrule. I wasn’t wrong. The action certainly steps up from the last four books and the mystery deepens, as well as the ties between the vampires and humans of Morganville. Unlikely alliances are formed, and seemingly strong ones crumble! This book will keep you guessing all the way through.

I have to say at this point I have absolutely NO IDEA what the future of Morganville holds. That’s just the way I like it. I hate when books are so predictable! Lord of Misrule changes everything you know about the town and promises a huge change in the dynamics. I keep waiting for some kind of resolution to the main problem, but the story just keeps growing and evolving in different ways. I really feel sorry for those who had to wait months for the next installments.

Those going into Carpe Corpus straight away will have (like me) trouble distinguishing just what happens in each individual books. Feast of Fools and Lord of Misrule bleed together like one and I’m sure the sixth book will be just the same. I really admire Rachel for not backing away from a HUGE plotline!

If you’ve stuck with the Morganville series this far, you won’t be disappointed with this one!

Recommended to: Fans of the series will be very pleased.

I just read this past week books 1-8 and I have to say Lord of Misrule and Kiss of Death were my favorites of the series… I need now to get my hands on the next two releases because living in Central Texas I am loving the Morganville series because small town life is really as insular as it gets and the author did a good job portraying it with the twist of a town full of vampires!

Yeah, this one was TOTALLY my favorite in the series — I was blown away! I remember saying the exact same thing after I finished reading: ” really feel sorry for those who had to wait months for the next installments.”
